The Community Clothes Closet provides free clothing to financially
challenged individuals and families. The remarkable thing about our
program is we can help these people in two ways- we give them free
clothing which in turn increases their immediate income. They can
then spend their limited income on the other necessities of life
such as food, shelter and child care.
Under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors,
one full-time staff, four part-time staff, and more than 150 volunteers
more than 405,000 clothing items have been distributed in 2009,
serving approximately 1,200 families per month! Most of our clients
live in the Fox River Valley, but we have become a popular regional
agency, serving a variety of locations outside of the area. All
legitimate referrals are honored.
Since moving to our present location, we have seen great changes
in the number of clients and the amount of clothing handed out:
- In the year 2000, we gave away 185,000 items
- In the year 2009, we gave away 405,000 items
The first home of the CCC was started basically because one elderly
man needed a pair of shoes. Over the years (more than 30) it has
seen many changes and grown tremendously.
