Community Clothes Closet …the Un-Store?
You may be wondering what we mean about an Un-Store. The CCC
is just like a store; set up in departments complete with displays. We
even have a check out area but it is missing one thing - a cash register! That
is right – there is no money received for our clothing. Another reason
we consider ourselves an Un-Store is we do not purchase the clothing we give
away. It is all donated by our friends in the community. We will
gladly except new or gently used clothing for men, women and children. We
also accept shoes, purses, costume jewelry, pillows, blankets, sheets, towels,
and knick knacks. We also accept books (no encyclopedias) and stuffed animals.
The Community Clothes Closet provides free clothing to financially
challenged individuals and families. The remarkable thing about our
program is we can help these people in two ways- we give them free
clothing which in turn increases their immediate income. They
can then spend their limited income on the other necessities of life
such as food, shelter and child care.
